CEO/Academic Director

Susan Pfeil
Susan's first experience as a teacher came at a young age: Growing up in Bethlehem, she taught her younger sister to read before she went to first grade. From there she was hooked, and education became her career path. She spent a year at Chestnut Hill University and went on to become one of the first four women to graduate from DeSales University. She earned her Masters of Education degree at Lehigh University then spent eight years teaching at St. Anne's School in Bethlehem before moving to Rhode Island for her husband's job. Her sojourn in Rhode Island included: 15 years teaching Elementary and Middle School grades; a year as a Mathematics Specialist at the Rhode Island Department of Education; 2 years as an Assistant Principal, and 4 years as a building Principal, at the Middle School level. She returned to the Lehigh Valley in May 2011 to take up the mantle of CEO/Academic Director and now lives near family and old friends, in Lower Macungie.
In addition to her many years teaching, Susan learned a great deal from raising her two wonderful daughters. Karen just moved to Seattle where she is an instructor at a therapeutic riding center called Little Bits. Kristen is an artist, entrepreneur and stay-at-home mom. Grandson Barrett "Bear" was born last autumn. Watching him grow and learn reminds Susan of all children's natural curiosity and learning; and the joy that it brings to them and to us!
As you'd expect from someone who has taken wholeheartedly to Seven Gen, Susan loves the outdoors - gardening, biking, hiking, traveling, beachcombing and riding the ocean waves. Her husband is expert at finding interesting places for them to ride bikes, and both especially like Rails to Trails adventures. Her enthusiasm for hands-on activities will stand her in good stead as she joins our teachers and students on their exciting EIC explorations.

What is it like to work at Seven Generations?
Seven Gen is my dream school. The vision and mission reflect my core beliefs about education. It is the way I ran my classroom when I was a teacher. I am so honored to serve as the Director of this amazing school!
