Third Grade

Michelle Schrader
After serving as a substitute teacher at Seven Generations for the 2009-2010 school year, Michelle Schrader joined the staff full time as a new Third Grade teacher, in fall 2010. Born and raised in Allentown, she earned her BS in elementary education and early childhood from Kutztown University and her ESL Certification from Lehigh Carbon Community College, in 2010. In addition to substitute teaching at Seven Gen and acting as a group supervisor for preschoolers at a local childcare center, Michelle worked in the Education Department at the Lehigh Valley Zoo as a Conservation Educator. As at the Zoo, Seven Generations allows her to integrate her two main loves - teaching and nature.
Michelle enjoys spending time with her family and friends, particularly sharing her passion for the outdoors with her two nieces, Madison and Jillian. She has a pet Leopard Gecko named Zoey, and her favorite things to do are hiking, going to the beach and playing sports. Contact Michelle Schrader at michelle.schrader@sevengen.org.
What is it like to teach at Seven Generations?
I am very excited and honored to be a teacher at Seven Generations. I believe it is very important to let children learn through play, discovery and real-life connections. Children need opportunities to express themselves creatively and to show that their ideas can make a difference. They need to experience the world by being an active part of it, and Seven Generations makes this possible.

Kari Shutts
Kari Shutts joined Seven Generations' staff after 5 years teaching 3rd grade at a Philadelphia charter school, and a period substitute teaching in Montgomery County schools. She earned her BS in elementary education with a concentration in science from Millersville University, and is currently working on a Master's in special education at St. Joseph's University. In addition to her teaching, she has volunteered and worked with students in education settings and in sports, and spent last year mentoring other teachers for the TAP program.
Kari, her husband Jeremy, son Ian and toddler Nathaniel live in Fountain Hill with their dog, Calloway. She loves being active, grew up swimming and camping along the Delaware River, and participated in many different sports. These days she enjoys getting out and playing golf with her husband. When she's feeling creative, she pulls out her scrapbooks to document her family's adventures. Contact Kari Shutts at kari.shutts@sevengen.org.
